All in Exploration/Travel
Saturday, me, my parents, my sister, Maria, and I hopped in our cars and headed south. Our mission was to take some wedding decorations and things (sis is getting married next weekend!!!) to our cousin's farm in Sugar Grove, Virginia...
Hi everyone. Future Mrs. Red Beard Jr. here. Spencer is allowing me to take over the writing portion of the blog today and tell you about our wonderful annual trip to Sinkland Farms that occurred before a surprise second trip there :)
I'm still trying to get used to photography blogging.
One of my biggest problems is wanting to talk more about how and why I shot and edited each photo instead of actually talking about the adventure itself. My second bad habit tends to be that I end up trying to take every photo for Instagram or Tumblr.
July 16th - Maria's Birthday. For those of you who don't know, Maria is my beautiful girlfriend. I had the complete joy and honor of taking her on a picnic for her 21st birthday to the Peaks of Otter.
This is just a little collection of photos that I snapped on our drive from Knoxville, TN to Black Mountian, NC this past Thursday.
The drive was absolutely gorgeous and consisted of many twists and turns cutting through high foggy topped mountains.
On July 5th, after our show the previous night in Harrisonburg, Va, the band headed up to New York to prepare for our show the following night at Rockwood Music Hall in East Village, New York City.
We arrived in the city only a couple hours before our show and were able to walk a few blocks around the area to get in a little exploring before our set.
So, we've had quite an overhaul on the business side of The Band Concord. The amount of work that is going on is amazing but sometimes just requires some time to relax.
I don't think that I have ever been this excited for warm weather. I don't know what it is about this year but I was done with the cold when it first started and even snow days didn't seem that appealing to me.
It's actually scary how strongly I feel about this. haha!
A couple weeks ago, the band headed down to Nashville, TN to play a Sofar Sounds Session. For those of you who don't know what Sofar Sounds is, please go check them out.
Basically, Sofar puts on secret acoustic shows all around the world and invite people who have signed up to come to an unknown address to hear unannounced artists play. I won't spend too much time on the subject, but it's an amazing idea and many great artists have played in Sofar Sessions all over the globe.
Over Christmas break, Maria, myself, and a group of friends headed up to New York to stay at a friend's house for a few days.
Chey's house was an amazing old stone home north of the city in New Windsor, New York. We had an awesome time hanging out with her and her family as well as exploring the city and surrounding areas.
Roanoke is an interesting and ever changing city and there are many places that I have yet to visit. Much to my surprise, Sweet Donkey Coffee House is not a new name to a lot of my friends from the area. I had never heard of the place before and when Maria and I set out for a day of adventures, we knew we had to stop at the new spot.
Saturday, Maria and I decided to explore some places in our area that we had never really been before. We also took this time to grab some last-minute cards and gifts for friends.
After eating a delicious meal at McAllister's, (thanks Mr. Miller for the gift cards) we popped into Piety, a nice miniature pie shop next door.
I apologize for not posting this earlier, but here it is! Maria, some friends and I headed up to Charlottesville on the 26th to see The Head and The Heart at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion.
Here are just a few shots from Gypsy Fest in Dublin, VA. Leave a like and if you have seen skies like this or even better!
Last weekend, the band packed up the van and headed to Sinkland Farms in Christiansburg. We had been asked back by the lovely folks at Trout Unlimited whom we played for last year before their auction and dining began.
Last week, I had the wonderful pleasure of going on vacation with Maria's family. It had been something we had all been looking forward to and it couldn't have come soon enough.
